About me
Alana G. White is a program officer for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan.
In this role, she works in the foundation’s priority place of Michigan to support thriving children, working families and equitable communities.
White is responsible for identifying and nurturing opportunities for affecting positive systemic change within communities across the state. She is also responsible for executing programming efforts to further the foundation’s mission, as well as working closely with staff to ensure integration and coordination of efforts. White works alongside grantees and employers to widen pathways to stable, high-quality jobs and to create more equitable employment opportunities.
Previously, White provided leadership support to grantmaking activities for the foundation’s
national Family Economic Security team. She developed strategies for emerging bodies of work
as well as prepared reports and research on best practices. White also collaborated with staff from other departments to facilitate workflow and streamline grantmaking processes.
Prior to joining the foundation, White provided program management leadership of a $22
million Living Cities investment in Detroit. In that role, she advanced the development and execution of key community economic development strategies in three Greater Downtown neighborhoods along the Woodward Corridor. Her experience also includes providing technical assistance to public housing authorities, planning mixed income housing developments, creating HUD compliant policies/ procedures as well as applying for and reporting on federal grants. Prior to this, she oversaw project execution and client engagement of facility and organizational improvement programs at airports
nationwide.
White earned a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Southern California and holds a
bachelor’s degree in architecture and a Masters of Business Administration, both from the
University of Michigan.
